Why are groups important in the classroom?

Hone Understanding Through Discussion and Explanation When teachers encourage group work, they offer students a safe environment in which they can interact without all the eyes of the class focusing on them at once. In addition, students should be actively involved to help the group achieve its goals. As teachers foster this safe environment, students' ability to think critically and speak with confidence is strengthened. With group work, teachers are asking students to take small steps to excel academically, as higher education will require much more group collaboration.
